Google Docs Viewer - Will it Replace PDF Converter Tools?

While reading the latest news regarding Google Docs Viewer, first thing that came in my mind is, why users go for PDF Converter tools?

In this latest news, I found that now Google Docs Viewer supports 12 more file formats. Earlier with the use of Google Docs viewer, people find it easier to view Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and PDF files.

Moreover the need to download any Document viewer is almost buried as everyone has Gmail account.

The list of supported file types now includes:

  • Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)
  • Apple Pages (.PAGES)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
  • Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
  • Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
  • PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
  • TrueType (.TTF)
  • XML Paper Specification (.XPS)

We need these pdf converter tools so that we can easily convert pdf to word and edit our documents. But now whenever we want to see a particular type of file in the required format then it can easily be viewed with the use of Google Docs Viewer.

I believe PDF converter will not see an end here. I am quite upbeat that pdf to word converter will keep proving its value for users in the years to come.
