Converter is a tool with which we can convert one type to another type.
In computers, we change file formats from one to another so it is called file converter. Other is change a one type of signal into another signal then it is called conversion of signal.
Digital to Analog:- Digital to Analog conversion is used in modems because telephone accept analog signals but computer accepts only digital signals. If we want to connect phone line to the computer for Internet or fax then firstly modem device accepts the analog signal and it will change it to digital signal because computer understand only digital signal. Modem is a modulator and demodulator technique which is used to change the type of signal. When we connect a phone line to modem then modem performs its function to change the signal from analog to digital.
Audio to mp3:- Audio is a quality format and it will take a more space as compare to mp3. In general Audio CD in which we can save only 8 maximum songs or more but in Mp3 format where we can save 15 albums means 150 songs or more. CD size is same where we store these two Audio and MP3. But the difference is only in the quality. Audio is a better quality format in which digital audio sound is saved in CD but mp3 format is a compressed format. Its quality is not really very good. So, here we have many converters to convert one format into other like audio to mp3 and mp3 to audio.
Pdf to word :- It is also a file format conversion process where we convert one file format into other file format. If we download a file from Internet and moreover files are available in pdf format because it is a portable format and easy to use and secure but we can not change its content as we can not edit pdf files. So, these are advantages of pdf and that's why we change PDF to word, excel, postscript formats so that we can edit the content or text. If we want to retrieve an image from it, we also use image file formats to store. So, we change pdf to jpg, bmp and other image formats.
Video to audio :- Video formats are dat, avi so we can convert these to audio or mp3 format. After conversion it retrieve sound from video file and save it to an audio format which one we want to save .mp3, .wave etc.
