What is JPEG file format?

Joint photographic expert group. It is a commonly used methodology compression for photographic image. JPEG compression is used in number of image file systems. It is basically used in Photographic cameras and other photographic image devices. It is the main file format to save a file on the world wide web. The name JPEG stands for Joint picture expert group. For more clarity JPEG is used because it is best for photographs and paintings of realistic image and true colors.
On other hand it is not suitable for iconic and line drawing where sharp contrast between adjacent and pixel noticeable artifact. Its compression method is lossy means some portion of its picture information will be lost .
Loss less:- Their are number of alternates to view a picture losslessly as long as its size is multiple 1mcu(multiple coded unit).
Size:- Blocks can be loaded in 90 degree increment flipped in horizontal vertical and diagonal axis moved about the image.
Cropping:- The top left boundary is lie on the block of boundary for cropping image but Bottom right portion of image need not do so. So, the Right image portion is not come in block boundary but rest of area will be in boundary and it will be crop by user .
Its file extension is .jpeg and .jpg. Dos supports Jpg extension and Other windows supports .jpeg. It also supports RGB colors Red Blue Green.
